ZTBL defeat rivals HBL by eight wickets on day two of the Faysal Bank T20
Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited made it two wins out of two in the Faysal Bank T20 Cup for Departments as they defeated Habib Bank Limited by eight wickets at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, courtesy of unbeaten forties from veteran Yasir Hameed and Haris Sohail.
Habib Bank batted first after being put in by Imran Nazir, but failed to establish any meaningful partnerships. Pacer Mohammad Khalil bagged four wickets and Usman Shinvari grabbed two to restrict Habib Bank to a below-par 149 runs in the allocated 20 overs. Opener Shan Masood and Younis Khan were the notable performers, scoring 34 and 33 respectively. Hasan Raza also briefly occupied the crease for his 25 runs.
ZTBL skipper Imran Nazir made his intentions clear from the very first ball and stroked Umar Gul for two breathtaking fours in the first over, much to the delight of the spectators at the stadium. He and Sharjeel Khan managed a quickfire 34 before he played one big shot too many and was caught off Umar Gul for 23 off 10 deliveries.
Yasir Hameed and Haris Sohail then kept the scoreboard ticking over and never allowed HBL to have any hope, remaining unbeaten and to ensure a ZTBL win by eight wickets and with four balls to spare.
