I’ve just been speaking to former Pakistan batsman, coach and manager Haroon Rashid.

I asked him about the unfortunate events of yesterday and what he feels the future holds for Pakistan cricket.

Haroon who was in Karachi when I spoke to him said that the incident of yesterday was a very unfortunate and sad one. He also mentioned that looking at the wider impact of the incident, Pakistan should not be isolated or forgotten about by the ICC and the cricketing community. Pakistan needs the support of other test playing countries as it goes through this difficult period.

Haroon felt that Pakistan may be safe again to host international cricket in a couple of years time.

I also asked him about the possibility of Pakistan playing future home series at neutral venues.

Haroon stated that yes neutral venues like Dubai, England and even Malaysia and Sri Lanka could be an option. However another option that Haroon mentioned was to possibly give the option to the away team that are supposed to tour Pakistan, the choice of playing the series at home.

My brother in law met Haroon in Kenya last year when he was the manager of the Academy team and Haroon was very keen to know where the photos of the Academy tour could be seen. He was also very interested in PakPassion and wanted details of the url of the site.

Many thanks to Haroon and watch this space for Haroon’s interview on PakPassion in the coming months.
