I’ve just been speaking to Yasir Ali of KRL predominantly about his KRL colleague Saeed Ajmal and him being reported to the ICC for a suspect action.

Yasir has played alongside Saeed Ajmal at KRL for a few years and has seen him bowling at close quarters in domestic cricket and of course during practice sessions and has also played against him a number of times in various forms of the game at domestic level.

Yasir stated that he feels that Saeed’s action is totally clean and added that he has been playing domestic cricket for in excess of 10 years and has never had any suspicions raised about his bowling action from either umpires or opponents.

Yasir went on and said that its disappointing that when some Asian cricketers come up against certain teams, suspicions are raised. It’s not just about the suspicions being raised, but the way they are raised that is very disappointing.

Yasir added that Saeed has done a tremendous amount of hard work at the Academy with Aaqib Javed in improving his bowling and looking at the technical aspects of his bowling especially at his action and the way his feet were landing. Some of the work he has done at the Academy has been very unorthodox but has really benefitted his game.

Yasir also stated that Saeed Ajmal has played league cricket in the UK for a number of years and has never been reported for his bowling action.

Yasir hoped that the situation regarding Saeed was sorted very quickly as Saeed could be one of the stars for Pakistan at the twenty/20 World Cup.
