Speaking exclusively to PakPassion.net earlier today, Abdur Rauf the Pakistani fast medium bowler confirmed that he is going through a period of rest after the Sri Lanka test series where he featured in 2 of the test matches.

Rauf who took 5 wickets in the 2 matches that he played in, including the wicket of Mahela Jayawardene on test debut stated "I'm taking a break and a having rest at the moment, before the training camps commence for the Champions Trophy squad".

"I think its important to recharge the batteries and to get some rest before the hard work of the training camps starts" added the bowler who wasnt selected for the Pakistan one day squad that is struggling in Sri Lanka at the moment.

Rauf continued "County cricket was an option, but there are only a few weeks of the county season left, so the timing meant that it wasnt looking too promising".

When asked if he had considered playing some club cricket in the UK, Rauf added "no I didnt want to play any club cricket, the only real option was County cricket".

Rauf continued "I'm doing some light training at the moment at the NCA, but nothing too strenuous and am hoping that I can give some good performances in the trial matches before the Champions Trophy and get selected for the Champions Trophy".
