Speaking exclusively to PakPassion.net from Lahore, Pakistan batsman Fawad Alam said that as far as he is concerned, being in the Pakistan team is more important than his batting position in the side.
"It is an absolute honour and dream come true for me to represent my country and I will bat in any position that my captain wants me to. I have been asked to bat in a number of positions already in my career and as long as I am in the Pakistan team, I am more than happy to bat wherever my team needs me to bat" stated the 24 year old.
Fawad who has featured in 2 tests and 14 one day internationals for Pakistan continued "My aim is to perform to the best of my ability in every match, whether its for my domestic team or for my country, I will always give 100% effort".
Fawad who is representing National Bank of Pakistan in the ongoing Quaid e Azam Trophy competition has hit consecutive centuries in his 2 innings in the competition added "I'm really pleased that I have hit back to back centuries. I felt really confident today, it was hard work out there and although the wicket at the Qaddaffi Stadium gave plenty of assistance to the fast bowlers, I was middling the ball quite nicely. Hopefully I can continue this good form".
National Bank possess a star studded lineup and are amongst the favourites to lift the Quaid e Azam trophy this season, comprehensively beat Lahore Shalimar in their opening match and look well set to beat WAPDA and Fawad stated "yes it looks good so far for National Bank and we are amongst the favourites, but its a long season and we need to continue to work hard and play good cricket".
Responding to a question about the ongoing controversy regarding Younus Khan's offer of resignation Fawad stated "I hope that whatever the outcome is, its in the best interests of Pakistan cricket. Younus is a good captain and I hope he will continue as the skipper".
