Speaking exclusively to PakPassion.net, former Pakistan chief selector and leg spinner Abdul Qadir stated that he was surprised that the selection committee had not yet announced who was going to captain Pakistan on the forthcoming tour to Australia.

"I simply don't understand why the captain has not been announced yet. The first match versus Tasmania is only 2 weeks away and we have no idea who is going to lead the team on what is probably the toughest tour in moden day cricket" stated Qadir.

Qadir who represented Pakistan on 171 occasions continued "By now Yousuf should have been named as captain. Are the Board waiting for the result of the test series in New Zealand and waiting for the decision on whether to retain Yousuf to be made easier for them? If that is the case, then it's not very good planning from the PCB. I think Yousuf should skipper the team in Australia and Younus should be included in the squad".

Qadir who in June of this year resigned as chief selector further added "As far as the tour of New Zealand is concerned, Younus Khan should be there right now playing test cricket. The Pakistan team needs Younus Khan and Younus Khan needs cricket. Younus has not played any cricket for a while and of course has missed all of Habib Bank's domestic matches and I wonder whether he is mentally ready to come back and lead the team at this point in time".
