I invited Iqbal Qasim to share his thoughts on PakPassion regarding the selection of the Pakistan "A" squad for the series against the England Lions. The series involves 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches next month in the UAE.

To select the Pakistan A team for the T-20 & ODI series ,the selection committee in the absence of a domestic One day tournament has no option other than to take into account the performance of players in the following tournaments :-

1 - Quaid-e-Azam Trophy-2009 (concluded recently)
2 - Pentangular Trophy (in progress)
3 - Last held RBS One day Tournament -2008-09

The team selected by the Selection committee, consists of experienced and youth talented players with the objective to achieve as under:

1 - Identify the potential players who can be utilized as backup for the senior Pakistan team.

2 - Players like Mohammad Talha, Wahab Riaz, Shahazaib Hassan and others who have played for Pakistan at an early stage of their careers at junior and Senior level get more experience of playing One Day and T-20 competition, tough Cricket against best opposition.
