Enigmatic fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar missed out on his comeback match for KRL yesterday due to a rain abandonment.

Team mates of Akhtar confirmed today to PakPassion.net that Shoaib had been named in the KRL starting lineup against National Bank of Pakistan in Rawalpindi, but the match was postponed without a ball being bowled.

The fixture was the first match for both teams in this seasons Royal Bank of Scotland Cup which features departments and regional teams competing in the 50 over format of the game.

"Shoaib was ready and was really disappointed that the match was called off" stated fellow fast bowler Yasir Ali.

Yasir continued "Shoaib's been working really hard in the pre tournament camp and looks in good shape. He's been bowling pretty sharp in the warmup matches and he's keen to get playing cricket again".

Fellow fast bowler Mohammad Irfan stated to PakPassion.net that he was excited about the thought of sharing the new ball with Akhtar. "Shoaib is a great bowler, someone who I can learn so much from and I am so looking forward to opening the bowling with him for KRL"

KRL's next fixture is tomorrow against Lahore Eagles at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground.

Akhtar has repeatedly stated that he is not "finished" when it comes to international cricket and desperately wants to play again for Pakistan and prove his doubters wrong.

34 year old Akhtar last played a test match for Pakistan in December 2007, but has featured as recently as last May in 50 over and 20 over cricket for Pakistan.
