Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt speaking exclusively to PakPassion.net has quashed rumours of the Board opting for more than one captain.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt speaking exclusively to PakPassion.net has quashed rumours of the Board opting for more than one captain.

Recent speculation in the media had suggested that the Board would select one captain for the test arena and another captain to focus on the shorter versions of the game, however Butt categorically denied that the Board were going to go for the option of more than captain.

"We will make an announcement regarding who will be the next captain of the Pakistan team in a couple of days. What I can say is that it will not be more than one person. We will be selecting one captain for all three formats of the game, rather than two or more captains" stated Butt.

With former captains Mohammad Yousuf, Younus Khan and Shoaib Malik serving "punishments" from the Board and currently illegible for selection, the names of Salman Butt, Misbah ul Haq, Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzaq have been mentioned as amongst the favourites to take on arguably one of the toughest jobs in the world of cricket. However Butt refused to disclose whether the issue of captaincy had been on the agenda or even if he had recently met all of the aforementioned players.

"There's been a lot of speculation in the press with regards to who I have met and what was discusssed, and some of it has been quite off the mark as usual. My door is always open and if any player wants to come and see me, then they know they are always welcome" added Butt.
