Ireland have had 1 ODI vs WI,2 vs SL, 3 vs SL A lined up and thats it bar an ODI series vs Scotland.
Scotland have had 1 ODI vs Eng (which was reduced to a t20 game) and series vs Holland,Ireland and NZ A. Nothing else.
UAE have nothing. At all. Read somewhere that they may get an ODI vs Pak and a series vs Pak A but thats unconfirmed and could be nothing more than a rumour. Eve if true thats only 4 games
Afghanistan have 4 ODI's vs Zimbabwe and the 4 matches in the Asia Cup earlier this year. Nothing else lined up as of today.
So the total ODI's the 4 Associates are going to have (including ones earlier this year) vs FM's the year before a World Cup is 12. If you include A teams that rises to 18. UAE may get a series (I mean they have to! They've played no one since the t20 World Cup) and maybe Ireland/Scotland/Afghanistan will have more to announce (I can only hope so). But even then its not much.
Total ODI's (as of today) in 2014 and early 2015 for each Associate is
UAE:0
Ireland:9.3 vs FM's and 3 vs FM A side
Scotland:10 (Im including the Dutch games because they are an ODI side despite what anyone says) 1 vs Full Member and 3 vs FM A side
Afghanistan:8. All vs Full Members.
Forgive me if this topic has been discussed before. But in my opinion, these are two ruthless captains who have suddenly brought fresh energry and aggression into cricket captaincy which had become slow, methodical and stale. Both of them seem to be strategically (psychological battles, pre-preps, use of media, psyching up own players) and tactically (seizing key moments in play, making good use of available resources, targeting individuals etc) gifted. They may sometimes go overboard but what I like about them is that they never say die.
In the last decade or so, I can't think of another captain who comes close. The last one was Ganguly.
Good fun to watch test cricket with one of them in charge.
Pakistan has jumped to the 3rd position on test ranking.
Compared to other teams, where do you rate Pakistan batting and bowling unit;
Test Batting: 5/10 behind South Africa, Australia, India and Sri Lanka
Test Bowling: 2/10 behind South Africa (may be Australia)?
ODI Batting: 4/10 behind India, South Africa, Australia
ODI Bowling: 2/10 behind South Africa
Why is surprising that we can be one of the better teams in the world?
