It was generally taken for granted that group 2 was the group of death with teams like Pakistan, Australia, WI who were full of expert T20 cricketers and to some extent it is true. With aggressive bats like Afridi, Akmal bros, Hafeez(in T20's), Gayle, Samuels, Dwayne Smith,Watson, Finch, Maxwell these were the batsmen that bowlers were more likely to fear. Except that none of these batsmen could cope with accurate swing/seam followed by probing spin of India's bowlers. They simply could not slog across the line consistently with maximum results and ended up with low scores. Indeed Bhuvi's most expensive over was courtesy Anamul Haque. On the other hand, Group 1 has batsmen such as Sanga, Jaya, Kane, Ross, AB ,Faf, Amla, Duminy, Hales, Lumb etc. who actually have the footwork/technique to score against accurate swing bowling. Which begs the question. Was Group 2 really the Group of Death and are India really the favourites?
