I can't help but mull this question over and over again - given our 6 month break in between series.
Not that PCB policies are making anything easier - but can we expect cricket to return home anytime? What are Bangladesh, Ireland and Zimbabwe up to - Can't they give us a small home series at home?
Realistically - what do you make of the chances of ever seeing cricket again in Lahore, Multan, Karachi?
I have great respect for Moin Khan, Zaheer Abbas and all others on the Coaching faculty that Pakistan has.
However, listening to Ramiz Raja in his comments to Saj, I am of the opinion that coaching should be less about "I scored X hundreds when I was your age" to "Beta, let me help you cope with the pressure" type style of coaching.
In this area, NONE of our present day coaches from Pakistan can hope to make an impact.
But maybe, it's not that simple.
Azhar Mahmood in an exclusive interview to us also pointed to the fact that coaches appointed for shorter tenures will always be worried about short term goals - ie they are more worried about themselves than the players!
Thus when Ramiz spoke about Pak players sitting watching the Aus v BD game anxiously and looking like school children about to be summoned to the head-master's office, one wonders why a commentator can make this observation but the Head Coach of the team cannot see this?
Or was he worried about his own future?
Pakistan's players were greeted by booing from members of the public upon their arrival at Lahore airport
Pakistanis complain about how mentally weak their players are.. But has anyone really given a thought as to why they dither with their emotions so much?
i grew up hearing stories about wasim and waqar and i watched asif akhtar run through line ups tat time. Question has to be asked why isn't Pakistan producing bowlers who can at least win games for us we are supposed t be one of the best fast bowling nations. Surely there are one or two top bowlers in the country we cant rely on tanvir and gul.
When Saqlain was in his prime as a bowler he was pretty much the best slow bowler around in limited overs cricket in the late 90s and early 2000s with Shane Warne, Pretty much he would destroy batting line ups in ODI games due to his ability to bowl the Doosra at will and batsmen struggle to pick it, however by playing to much county cricket and also going through a stage where he started to over bowl the doosra he became in-effective.
Going from a quality off-spinner who could surprise batsmen with the odd Doosra he went onto to start bowling it almost all the time and batsmen started to be able to pick it and also combat it and performances started to dip.
Is Ajmal going the same way?
