I think today def. is. Loss to Ireland in WC 2007 comes to mind. But in a ODI or T20 upsets do happen because one special performance can win a game.

But TEST cricket, where a team has to be good over 4 innings and 5 days...completely something else.

Got close in 2003 to having an upset against Bangladesh, but Inzamam saved face that day. Misbah couldn't do the same.

Whatmore has been an abject failure. His position is now untenable.

Do they ever have player-coaches in international cricket? Just an idea anyway.

Misbah seems to be the only guy in this setup with leadership qualities.

Keep him captain and also give him full authority to make whatever decisions need to be made.

We all are seeing numerous discussions and a curiosty over the team that Pakistan will field in the next WC, with time to try new youngsters and increase the pool of players decreasing with each day.

But in reality forget the team, I think Pakistan are not yet decided upon the Captain who will lead in the next WC. Atleast before forming a team the most important man to lead the time must be decided.

With only around 18 months to go for the next WC and no time to experiment new captaincy options who do you think is more likely to Captain in the next WC :-

Some of the options could be :

1) Misbah : The most reliable player in the team who is assured of a spot and with some easy series coming his way , he is likely to tighten his grip of leading the team.

2) Afridi : Most experienced player in the team, has made a decent comeback and is expected to grab the A/R's spot in the WC. Led the team very well in the last WC so in event of Misbah losing a few Odi series, he could be brought back to lead the team.

3) Hafeez : The current T20 captain who is known for being more innovative and gutsy than Misbah, one whose never afraid to try youngsters. With a lean patch for Misbah and reluctance to go back to the old option in Afridi, the selectors might promote him as the Odi captain.

4) Any youngster - Even though there is no time to try new options but things are never predictable with a board like PCB and there could be a very minute possibility of Captaincy being handed to a performing youngster like Junaid Khan.

Your choice and most likely choice of the PCB according to you ?

Lack of performance from Asad Shafiq, Azhar Ali and Mohammad Hafeez  raises question marks over the cricketing future of these individuals.  Should they be persisted with or dropped and replaced by likes of Umar Akmal, Haris Sohail and Fawad Alam?
