This marked the test debut of Wahab Riaz who showed quite a bit of promise in his first stint as a test cricketer. He showed his pace and talent early on when he grabbed the wickets of AJ Strauss and Jonathan Trott. He didn't stop there as he also took the wicket of danger man Kevin Pietersen. He finished with five wickets in his first innings and was vital in restricting England to a total of 233.
"I was talking to mate when Clarke hit his century in the third test and he said that when Clarke reached 100 he normally went on to hit a big century.
That got the idea into my head and earlier today during my Linear Algebra lecture I had the time to start working out the different averages of batsmen after they scored a century."
Where have you been lucky to watch cricket match live? How was the experience and the atmosphere?
We already know Viv batting average was less against Pakistan if you compare it with other teams of that time but what's more interesting is that it was only less in the matches Pakistan and West Indies played against each other in Australia.
Australia is the country where Viv played most of his ODIs against Pakistan (16 out of 41) he average less thn 15 against Pakistan in those 16 ODIs and his SR is also less thn 78 there otherwise in most of other countries where he played against Pakistan his SR is 100+
These 12 years produced great results for Pakistan in Test cricket. Pakistan played a total of 100 Test matches won 36, lost 15 and drawn 49 matches with a W/L ratio of 2.4. During this period Pakistan played 31 Test Series won 18, drawn 8 and lost 5. Pakistan won against almost every team at home and away the only exception was West Indies drawn 3 Test series against them. During this period Pakistan always remained #2 Test team after West Indies.
Kamran Akmal, Adnan Akmal, and Sarfraz Ahmed are three names that are regularly discussed when the wicket-keeping issue is brought up.
Given the amount of cricketing talent that Pakistan has, are we only limited to these options? If so, which one player would you want to have in your team in terms of both wicket-keeping and batting abilities?
