Surely we aren't at the top. If you had to rank selection committees, where would ours be? What factors would you use for your rankings?
I want you to explain captaincy and leadership in cricket in your own words based on different factors not stats only or by by saying Captain A is better thn Captain B because he got a better W/L ratio...
If you want you can pick any captain from past or present for example Sobers, Brearley, Llyod, Imran, Border, Taylor, Waugh, Ponting, Dhoni or anyone to explain your points let's have a healthy debate instead of another derailed thread...
I want to include some words by different captains here...
A captain must make every decision before he knows what its effect will be, and he must carry the full responsibility, not whether his decision will be right or wrong, but whether it brings success. Don Bradman
Some of the great players haven't been great captains because they haven't been able to understand the struggle. You have to have an empathy for other players. Mike Brearley
Batting captains never had a clue about bowlers. Most captaincy is done on the field. As a bowler I was far better equipped to deal with that than batting captains. The only batting captain I rated was Ian Chappell. He had a very good cricket mind and could deal with bowlers well. Apart from him, very few were good because they didn't understand bowlers. Because I was a bowling captain, I taught Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis from scratch. They had hardly played any first-class cricket and I would tell them what to do every ball because I had been through the process myself. I would set their fields and I would tell them what to think. Imran Khan
The captain has to pull together ten different individuals with contrasting personalities and personality traits and get them all going in the same direction by treating them equally but differently. Steve Waugh
For me, it's all 3 of them. But if I really had to choose one, it'd be ODIs, as I'm really excited to see how the likes of Umar Amin, Anwar Ali, Asad Ali, Ahmed Shehzad, etc. perform if given a chance! Also, the ODI squad for this tour is a squad in which most (if not all) players are selected on merit.
What about you?
