The star power of the teams in the '90s is quite astounding, not only for Pakistan, but in most teams around the world. So what do you think? Will we see such a golden age in both batsmanship and bowling again?

Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq can become Pakistan's All-time greats in ODIs if given continuous chance at correct batting position. And their correct batting positions are:
* Azhar Ali as an opener.
* Asad Shafiq at #3.

The stats are pointing towards it. I am using the stats against fulltime ICC members only. The sample size is small but do point out that both can make it big.

Azhar Ali as an opener
Inning : 5
Average : 61.25
Strike Rate : 70.00
100s : 0
50s : 3

Compare him with all the Pakistani players who have played as an opener with atleast same number of innings (i.e. 5) and he is ranked Number 1.
The top 5 openers are:
1. Azhar Ali
2. Ijaz Ahmed
3. Majid Khan
4. Asif Mujtaba
5. Nasir Jamshed

Asad Shafiq at # 3
Inning : 15
Average : 42.16
Strike Rate : 70.67
100s : 0
50s : 5

Compare him with all the Pakistani players who have played at # 3 with atleast same number of innings (i.e. 15) and he is ranked Number 4.
The top 5 batsmen at #3 batting position are:
1. Javed Miandad
2. Mohammad Yousuf
3. Zaheer Abbas
4. Asad Shafiq
5. Shoaib Malik

The best thing about them is that both are permanent members of test team.
Both should be given continuous chance at their best batting positions for atleast 10 innings and then we can reevaluate them.
Both of them should work in improving their strike rates.
The continuous chances in paying ODIs will improve their strike rate which will also result in improving their strike rates in Tests as well.
