on 26 Dec 2012, his average was 44.68
After Perth Victory,
"Virat and Ishant said that once I come to India my averages is going to fall and it would be a different story. But I said it's probably going to be 10 extra for wickets here are livelier while in India it's flat." |
now his average drops to 39.46.
IMO, he is the main culprit behind the batting collapse today. Why does have always tries to hit a 6 from the 1st ball ?
10 overs were remaining with 5 wickets to go and he tries to go for a big shot. What was the hurry ?
Cant be take ones and twos for 4-5 overs and then go after the bowling ?
If Junaid and Riaz had tried to bat the same way then Pakistan would have been all out for 170 but no they played for the team and not for personal 6 hitting Glory.
This is the reason why Afridis 88 a few days ago was the worst thing to happen. Not only Pakistan lost that match but it has given Afridi the license to be in the team for another 2 years and single handedly lose matches for Pakistan.
Afridi is easily the most selfish cricketer of the side and yet people blame Misbah who actually tries.
Dave Richardson, the ICC chief executive, has said the BCCI is still a "long way" from accepting the Decision Review System (DRS). In Auckland for the third Test between New Zealand and England, Richardson said persuading India's administrators will take time and that a former player, such as Anil Kumble, could play a role if he could be convinced about the system's benefit.
"They are a long way from saying 'it's a good idea,'" Richardson told Test Match Special. "I don't think it's necessarily only the administrators, say people like Anil Kumble for example. He's going to take some persuading."
As Test Cricket is the ultimate and purest form of the game and any team's caliber is judged mostly by their Test performance and recently Pakistan have been brutally exposed by by the Proteas and now Paksitan's next Test assignment is in West Indies who are winning streak of 6 games albeit (4 of them are against the Ban & Zim).
I fear the WI could be handful for the Pakistanis as there bowling looks more than decent unlike us who are relying on Ajmal all the time specially in Test cricket, also the WI are playing aggressive cricket as their team selection shows 5 specialist bowlers including Sammy.
Their attack will be likely from this
Pace : Roach, Best, Gabriel, Rampaul, Edwards, Sammy
Spin : Narine Shillingford Permaul Samuels Gayle
These are very good options to choose from and i fear our batters may let us down again aided by the PCB with not enough warm up games. Hafeez against Roach may prove another nightmare for the Professor and if Gayle goes berserk then our inexperienced pacers may crumble again with Misbah going defensive from the 4th over. What do you think?
