Former Test skipper Steve Waugh said it was time to consider adding one female player to each Big Bash League T20 team's roster based on the success – and ability - of Australia's elite women's cricketers.

Waugh admitted the idea might seem to some as “out there” but, to the enthusiastic applause of members of the champion NSW Breakers women's team, he nevertheless suggested allowing for the likes of Alex Blackwell, who was presented with the Belinda Clark Medal as the state's best female cricketer on Thursday, fast bowler Ellyse Perry and wicket keeper Alyssa Healy, the opportunity to match it with the men in the modified version of the game.

“I think it's about time where we could have one female player per Big Bash side,” Waugh said. “Going forward, I can't see why the girls can't have representation in the Big Bash.

Here we were a few months ago thinking about how the PCL would showcase our local talent to the world.

Apart from the players themselves, the quality of presentation and presenters is a key factor in such events and there were high hopes on that front too.

Unfortunately, that did not happen and from what I see and hear about the effort for Super 8s, we are back to square one.

Why after 3 years of doing this tournament we are still left with substandard broadcast quality and presenters is beyond me - why doesnt the PCB hire an external consultant to address this aspect and then advise the broadcaster ?

Bad quality of commentators as well as abnormally long ad breaks in the middle of play etc are all indicative of improper planning etc - really sad to see this.

Can left arm spinners be as successful as leg spinners? Will they manage to take at least 300+ test wickets?

"Now, we can expect a batsman in this decade to average around 35, at the very least. As a bowler, we can expect him to average around 30. Now, if we play an all rounder, for it to be worth it, he must average at lease 30 with the bat and under 35 with the ball, and this too, is only valid for LOI's, for the more incisive bowler or more prolific batsman should definitely make it in tests, instead of a bits and pieces player. So overall, do you agree with this assessment that all rounders are only worth it if they average at least what is given here?"
