Both are players who have been given chances in the Pakistan team but do they deserve to persisted with?
None of Adnan and Sarfraz has cemented place in test team,Kamran Akmal has been omitted from T20 team after WC T20, Umar Akmal is not a regular keeper even in domestic matches yet he has been given the responsibility of keeping in ODIs.
Above scenario clearly indicates that Pakistan is still in search of a wicketkeeper-batsman.There are 2 bright candidates that comes into my mind for the job.Mohammad Rizwan and Sarfraz Ahmed.Whom do you prefer?
Waugh didn't only face and do well vs the Pak attack, he played three series vs tough West Indian attacks. The 95 and 99 WI vs Aus battles were particularly epic, Waugh weathering the storm in 95 and doing even better in 99 (a century and a 199), though Ambrose, Walsh and Lara would steal his thunder. Steve had Border, Ponting, Boon and Mark Waugh around him for most of his career, always somebody solid surrounding him, which allowed him to drop anchor and play conservatively. He came low down the order, so you'd think he wouldn't have time to get those big centuries, but because his team-mates stuck around, he was able to cash in.
Keeping in view the past behavior of Pakistan selector and our illiterate media, I am pretty sure selectors will select him in next ODI series even if he does not deserve it. They will surrender to the pressure created by media and people who ignore reality and facts and just want to promote younis based on his test performances and assumption that he is very patriotic and a team man.
A batsman who played with one of the weakest bating unit. Here is his career record, 10K+ runs 28 100's & 61 50's 46.77 away avg 51.81 career avg Scored 9 100's & averages 50+ against Aus/SA , the two best bowling units of his time.
Keeping the discussion only for Test cricket, where do PPers rate him among other tier 2 players of current and past generations? Where you will put him in pecking order?
Inspired me to compare the test stats all 4 all-rounders against each other. So here are the individual stats for each All-Rounder when they played together (against each other) in test matches.
