The only thing that went right for Pakistan in this test was Asif Iqbal's innings of 146 which salvaged Pakistan some pride and helped them avoid an innings defeat.

Ahmed Shehzad and Nasir Jamshed were far from impressive in today's innings, failing to bring about any momentum to the innings.  Both had strike-rates (S/R) of just a fraction of 50, which is simply unacceptable in an ODI match. On the other hand, Zimbabwe openers were more at ease and scoring at a significantly higher rate.

 

Is there really an excuse for this performance given that these players should have been well accustomed to the playing conditions in Harare by now?

Dav Whatmore warned about complacency during the preparatory camp for the tour of Zimbabwe and it appears that his warning had some weight. Some serious questions need asking about team selection and Pakistan's inability to put up big totals against a somewhat weaker opposition such as Zimbabwe.

The last time Pakistan lost to Zimbabwe was in 1998 and this loss comes nearly 15 years after.
