Absence.
Whilst tournament ticket sales have been impressive, the growing number of absent players must be disappointing for fans and no doubt organisers.
Gul, Afridi, Graeme Smith, Sehwag, Gambhir, Tendulkar, KP and Yuvraj are amongst the big names who will not be seen in the Champions Trophy. Some through injury but others due to non selection.
Sports in general are a young persons domain.
Conventional wisdom says that the older you get, the less likely you are to be able to be picked for your side and so on.
There are exceptions to the rule but what Mohammed Irfan has done at the (official) age of 30 is to show that age is no barrier to success.
In the past, bouncer barrages would occur. These were riveting contests as it displayed great fire from the fast bowler as the bouncers would also spill out into a few nasty words being spoken between batsman and bowler. On the batsman's side we would often see the batsman duck suddenly or evade the ball. However, once a while the bowler would strike the batsman horribly in the head/the body and he would collapse to the floor in pain or even more bravely stay stood up and just simply rub his body as if to say to the bowler, "Was that supposed to hurt?" Alternatively, greater batsmen would hook/pull the ball and the bowler would become annoyed and also psychologically damaged as he would have to pitch the ball up and risk being driven.
Should the rule be removed?
Every time before a big tournament or big matches come, all I hear and is Pakistan will do this and do that, they are better than anybody and everybody.
Before matches start, Pakistan is the best team.
When they come up short of their tall claims (this is happening more often), either it is full scale massacre from the media and fans.
