After Bangladesh had scored 281 in the 1st innings of the Third Test at Multan, they followed it up a with a very disciplined display of bowling. With the ball moving around, a relatively inexperienced Pakistan batting lineup found it difficult and as a result they were bowled out for a below part 175.
Many experts termed Zimbabwe's decision to bowl first as surrender of sorts but what transpired over the day left a lot of red faces in the Pakistani batting line-up. Mohammad Hafeez's constant failures to score in Test matches is a source of concern as is the penchant for some set batsmen to throw their wickets away as demonstrated by the Captain Misbah-ul-Haq. The best case scenario for Pakistan is for the last wicket pair of Saeed Ajmal and Rahat Ali to add some quick runs tomorrow and for the Pakistan bowling attack to take the game to the hosts. Failing which, Pakistan may have to endure an embarrassing 4 days of cricket with an unthinkable result at the end.
People continuously discuss how mediocre we are and all that.
So how do we become a better team? Ans: Play more cricket. Now my fellow posters, that is the main problem. In the last year, Bangladesh played just 2 tests! Yes my friends, "2" as opposed to England who has played around 16-20. Number of ODIs? 9 as opposed to almost 32 played by India. Suprisingly, our team played 15 T20s in the same year. Even this year, we have only 9 ODIs and 6 tests to be played, as well as 5 ODIs. As an emerging team, you need to play more and more cricket as time progresses but it seems the opposite.
We have improved since 2010 but the number of matches we play starts to get lesser with every passing year. Bangladesh may not have performed as expected, but I dont see any reason why ICC have reduced the number of matches played by Bangladesh whilst loading the FTP with countless India-SL and Aus-England matches....heck even, their fans are bored to hell. I can now understand why cricket will never be a global sport because of the treatment weaker teams receive. Its understandable that ICC wants to spread the game, and they should do it, but I dont see any point in trying to establish the sport in countries like USA, or even China, where peopke dont even want to embrace the sport. ICC need to ensure that teams like BD, Ireland, Afghanistan....and make 2 tier test system for God's sake
