Althought Steyn dismissed Dilshan in last ball of his first over but watch the first 5 balls of his over and see how Kusal Perea handled dale steyn. 17 runs in first 5 balls of dale steyn. Perera was playing against the ball not the bowler. This is the positive mindset. He even made Dale Steyn bowl a wide after a SIX.

It seems that Afridi and Umar Gul are either unfit or half fit. The unfit players cost us last time in the final of Asia Cup. Don't know why the management is so scared of giving chances to young and fully fit players?

His problem is that his game plan is non-existent or so impractical that it cannot be used.

When your fielding and batting and bowling all under perform in unison then you have an issue.

I can understand a failure in one department but all three failing so badly is bad news.

Is this a skills issue or confidence or simply a case of players not listening?

Regardless - the signs are not good and if his sheepish looks in press conference are any indication, I don't think he is looking too confident!

Hashim Amla's dismal T20 showing is an indicator of his dislike for this form of cricket or is it a temporary dip in form?

Pakistan were unable to handle the pressure against India and that defeat will have demoralised them. Australia are a ruthless opposition and it will be very difficult for Pakistan to overcome their talented line up.So are we heading for a disaster here?

Pakistan has never won a World Cup game agaisnt India and the streak extending to 8 matches now. How has this match affected you? What were you expecting as a result?

On what basis could you justify that he should had played ahead of Maqsood. This time the boundary lengths were not Asia Cup boundaries(60 M) but were real boundaries

Discuss!

Why not?

Only pick a quick if he can bowl you 4-5 Yorkers per over on demand. This should be your one criteria along with pace of 140+

My XI

SHARJEEL
SHAZAD
HAFEEZ
MAQSOOD
U AKMAL
K AKMAL
AFRIDI
BHATTI
GUL
TANVIR
AJMAL

Get Sharjeel in as we have too many right handers plus he got a 50 in his last innings.

Tanvir with his slower ball is better than junaid who sadly is a shadow of himself.

At least with this team if sharjeel gets going we can get 50 + off the first 6 as we will need 160+ as aussies will hit at least 8 or 9 sixes.

I hear a lot about psychological barriers and choking etc.. but to me the real reason is far simpler.

We simply don't play enough batsmen.

Some will say that if that was the case the results would be the same outside of ICC events but that would be ignoring a few salient facts.

Usually these ICC matches are high stakes games, so losing usually means elimination. When you bowl you have 11 players sharing the pressure. When your batting it's just the two in the middle. Add to this, that Pakistan usually have 1 or 2 bits and pieces players in the the top 4 and have traditionally played 4 front-line batsmen. So, not only do we lose quick wickets, the main batsmen have to bat with extra caution as they know they tail is long and everything hinges on them.

ODIs are a batsmen's game and India pack their side with batsmen. Beef up the Pakistani batting by dropping a bowler and bits and pieces players and you might see a whole different approach.

Only in 1996 did we have enough batsmen but the batting order in that game was flawed.

When your bowling is put under pressure, you have the option of making a change within 6 deliveries, a luxury that your not afforded when batting.

The Malik's, Akmal's and Hafeez's (batting up the order) are never going to perform consistently in major events.

16th Over = 4 Runs

17th Over = 2 Runs

18th Over = 2 Runs

So a total of 8 runs in 18 balls.
