Keep in mind, this applies to ODI's and T20's.
It's all in the title, how many years will it take for Afghanistan Cricket Team to reach a level where they can challenge all top ranked sides even though they wont be the best.
Like West Indies or New Zealand who are ranked much lower on the table but they can beat the top 4 on any given day. Currently, I don't really see any good players in their team other than Hamid Hassan and Mohammad Nabi.
I firmly believe he can be a top quality opener.
Oozes class, has the technique, the style and is exceptionally pleasing on the eye.
Yes he has been toothless for Pakistan so far and hasn't had a great time in domestic cricket either but it could very well and IMO, is the case of him simply batting at the wrong position throughout his career.
For instance, look at Dilshan. His career was going nowhere for a decade before he started opening in the last 5/6 years and become one of the most destructive ODI opener ever.
Could he prove to be a decent opener in ODIs?
A lot of threads going on over here about how Dhoni is useless in T20 and Kamran Akmal is miles ahead of Dhoni and is a better impact player.
Well I thought a thread in this context would be interesting.
Let's follow the progress of both in this T20 World Cup and see who will be the difference for their teams in the T20 world Cup.
Let the battles begin !
Whereas other teams look to smash it to all parts in the first 6 overs of their innings in T20Is, it seems that Pakistan is reluctant to really go for it.
Nothing special from this guy in 2 warmup matches and nothing in big bash or recently finished domestic t20 tournament so are they still going to select him in 11?
1 run needed to win today vs Nepal and Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan refuses the single because he wants to finish the match with a big hit. He proceeded to hit the next ball for a six.
What he hopes he's accomplishing by showing this confidence vs a minnow like Nepal?
Its plain and simple, Ireland is atleast a slighty better team than the Zimbabwe. Just a couple of days ago , they almost defeated Zimbabwe with ease if not for last moment hiccups
Well both India and Pakistan have brought back a keeper and a middle order batsman.
For Pakistan Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik comeback in the team.
For India Yuvraj Singh and Mahinder Singh Dhoni comeback in the same positions.
Which batting order is stronger now considering the returning players in the respective teams.

The problem is that there are no extra batsman in squad so one of sharjeel or shoaib mailk will play although both are not performing.
We had same situation in Champions Trophy when we selected many bowlers in squad but had almost no replacements for batsmen.
